FAQs

  • No, we do not make any of our products - gosh, we wish were that talented! Instead, we curate a variety of products from around the country and world.

  • It depends! Like cheese made from animal milk, vegan cheese comes in lots of shapes, sizes, colors, textures and flavors. Our vegan cheeses are generally derived from nut, soy, or coconut milks.

  • Good question! There is a big range of plant-based meats out there, so it is hard to narrow down a good definition - if you have had one plant-based meat product, you have had one plant-based meat product. While some of the more known products often try to mimic popular animal products, there are others that aim to stand out as a new thing. They are derived from many different ingredients including fungi, vegetables, legumes, and grains.

  • Where to begin! We love the Farm Sanctuary website. They have LOTS of information about factory farming’s impact on animal welfare, climate change and our health. T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies also has great resources and features experts in different fields. On major streaming platforms, you can find documentaries that delve into these topics, too - Forks Over Knives, Game Changers, and Cowspiracy to name a few.

  • No, unfortunately right now we do not ship our products. We are a super small operation!

  • Sure do! We suggest The Korean Vegan, Vegan Rica, Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking, Vegan for Everybody, Plant-Based India, Eat Plants B*tch, and Crossroads. We do not receive any commission from sales of these books - my husband and I just really like them!

  • No, not necessarily. Just like in non-vegan diets, processed foods are going to be more expensive than whole foods like fruits and vegetables. While we focus on speciality foods like cheeses and meats here at Seedlings, a whole foods, plant-based diet can be inexpensive for those who have access to farmers markets and full grocery stores.
